Ghost Writing
The important thing about a ghost writer is that they remain a ghost. It is not their voice or personality that should be heard in the text, only yours.
It’s also very important that you feel comfortable with your ‘ghost”. That’s why you have to chose with care, and make sure you can escape should you feel uncomfortable at any time. So this is how I work:
The first meeting is free of charge so that you can discuss what you have in mind, who your memoir is for and what the story is you want to tell.
If you then feel you’d like to go ahead, we will plan the first recording session together so you can be thinking about it a little before we start. This first session will be written up for you to comment on before any further work is done so that you can decide, at this stage, whether you are happy to continue.
“It was great fun working with Rebecca. She really captured my voice, and my family and friends thoroughly enjoyed reading the book. She certainly knows her stuff!”
Sir Michael Pickard
Recording sessions usually last between one hour and an hour and a half. You will be sent the write-up of each session to read before we next meet in case their are any additions or alterations you wish to make. In this way you have control of the content at all times.
How much will it all cost?
How long is your memoir! The first meeting to discuss your project is free of charge, I ask only that you pay for any travel involved. After that I charge a daily rate which will be invoiced to you after each session has been written up. This helps you keep an eye on how much you are spending.
There are no contracts, and you are free to stop at any time. At your first meeting I will be able to give you some idea of over-all costs which depend, obviously, on what you are hoping to write about.
